If architecture is your thing, visit the beautifully preserved Teatro la Caridad, Santa Clara\u2019s (and one of Cuba\u2019s only remaining) old colonial theatres, dating back to 1885. Just as awe-inspiring as the building\u2019s exterior is its delicate interior, featuring ornate furnishings, intricately painted ceilings, and a gorgeous gallery that still hosts regular ballet shows today.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

From music to murals, another Che Guevara highlight in the city is the Tren Blindado monument and museum, a landmark which honours the exact place where Che and his men derailed an armoured railway train during the Battle of Santa Clara<\/a>, 1958. It\u2019s worth embarking on a tour guide whilst you\u2019re here to understand the history of this site, before browsing the historical and art exhibits in the freight cars.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Whether your visit during the day or once evening rolls around, time spent at El Mejunje is a must for all ages. This popular LGBTQ friendly nightclub doused in urban graffiti is a hive of activity no matter what the hour, playing host to lively drag shows, senior citizen salsa dancing, exciting kid\u2019s theatre performances, magicians, the Miss Transvestite Beauty Pageant, and much more \u2013 you really will find something for everybody in this roofless, run-down looking building. Want to go out with a bang? Finish your day of exploration in one of the city\u2019s best restaurants, The Florida, where you can indulge in a romantic dinner set amid a candlelit courtyard full of unique antiques and plants. Or, for something less fancy, head to an intimate eatery named El Alba (near Parque Leoncio Vidal), a popular haunt where you can fully immerse yourself in the local culture and fabulous food.<\/p>\r\n\r\n
