Havana<\/a> is a city that, whilst maintaining its cultural and historical charm, is also diverse in what it offers, providing international delights to please any visiting traveller.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although quite different from its international counterparts, Chinatown in the bustling Cuban capital provides a step backwards in time, acting as a remnant of a population of Chinese migrants that once called Havana their home.<\/p>\n\n\n

Although no longer living in the capital, their legacy lives on, standing proud along the \u201cBarrio Chino\u201d within the city. The Barrio Chino is distinguishable from its bright red buildings decorated with Chinese letters which line the street, along with several restaurants and shops that offer products allegorical to Chinese culture. This street is popular with tourists today, and with the recent re-opening of direct airline travel from Beijing to Havana via Air China<\/a>, the popularity of the district is sure to rise.<\/p>\n\n\n

A must-see when visiting the area is the El Callej\u00f3n del Barrio Chino (Chinatown Alley), a boulevard of traditional Chinese restaurants, including the famous Tien-Tan. Soak up the tropical rays from the open-air tavern of the Jard\u00edn de Perk\u00edn, a quaint spot with an old-world feel, or go for a stroll down the backstreet turned bazaar La Ruta del Drag\u00f3n (The Dragon Trial) where you can indulge in ornamental plants and Cuban spices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
