Trinidad and Tobago is a dual-island Caribbean nation near Venezuela, with distinctive Creole traditions and cuisines. Trinidad’s capital, Port of Spain, hosts a boisterous carnival featuring calypso and soca music. Numerous bird species inhabit sanctuaries such as the Asa Wright Nature Centre. The smaller island of Tobago is known for its beaches and the Tobago Main Ridge Forest Reserve, which shelters hummingbirds.

Why we like Tobago

The quite simply stunning white-sand beaches and coves, a lot of which are natural - such as Pirate's Bay and Englishman's Bay. We'd recommend visits to both Pigeon Point Beach and the Nylon Pool, a natural sandbar in the middle of the sea

Tobago is home to the Western Hemisphere's oldest legally protected rainforest, the Main Ridge Forest Reserve. This UNESCO Biosphere Reserve boasts more than 260 species of birds, whilst it is also possible to spot hawksbill, green, and giant leatherback turtles on the beaches (typically between March and August)

The cuisine is another highlight, with a delicious blend of Indian, African, and European influences plus street foods such as roti and world-class cocoa - chocolate lovers in particular are encouraged to experience tours of the Tobago Cocoa Estate!
